Review
This is where the story of Roland, The Gunslinger, begins. It takes turns between Roland’s childhood and coming of age and his pursuit of Walter, the Man in Black, on quest for the Dark Tower.
This book can stand alone but it is part of Stephen King’s Dark Tower Saga. That saga has seven official novels and many other associated works. Keep that in mind if you are the type that can’t rest if you have an unfinished series to get through.
The only qualms I have with this book is that the characters don’t evolve much over the course of the story. This is very likely due to
the additional volumes in the series during which they will undoubtedly change and grow. However, in the characters end up very close to where they started.
This is one of my favorite audio books. I have listened to it no less than four times. It is one that always has something new for me each time I come back to it. Give it a try. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
